After seeing the Tova tunic/dress all over the sewing blogs and Internet about a year and a half a go I purchased the pattern and immediately went on the quest of looking for the perfect fabric. I lucked out and found this amazing periwinkle plaid up in Portland at Bolt fairly quickly, and than I hoarded them both in my sewing stash since then.
Almost two weeks ago now for my birthday I was surprised with the amazing presents of a new sewing machine and my first serger. What a better project to try out both my new toys than with this project.
Overall the finished product is amazingly comfortable. I was planning on adding pockets to but was sewing the sides when my youngest daughter was on semi asleep on the floor next to me, needless to say my brain completely forgot about the pockets. That’s fine though I will just have to add them next time. And maybe make the dress a little longer (it’s a wear leggings with it length). Yes, there will be a next time. I like the finished project enough to make it again.
My only complaint is that the directions are really poorly written. I had to re-read sections multiple times to get an idea about what the authors meant. Many times I just said screw it and did it my way instead. Otherwise the dress went together very nicely.
